The Outdoor Cat

One advantage of allowing your cat outdoor is a reduction in litter tray chores. You will, however need to respond to the cats every meow at the door to be let out. There is always a possibility of complaints from neighbor who do not appreciate the cat doing its duty in their yards.

The outdoor cat may develop a more independent personality as its wild instinct surface, bonding more with the outdoor environment than with its human family. The greatest drawback of allowing your cat outdoor is the risk to its life and health.

While a cat may enjoy the stimulus of the great outdoor, it is also faced with a long list of dangers. The outdoor cat is subject to injury or death by vehicles, intentional or accidental poisoning, fighting with other cats, exposure to parasites or infectious disease from other cats (e.g FIV), injury or death by dogs or predators, and becoming lost.
